MELBOURNE, 16 October 2022: Shwetali Sawant, Independent local candidate for Point Cook in the upcoming Victorian elections, is crystal clear about what she stands for. Today during the launch of her campaign and fundraiser at the Waterstone Cafe, Point Cook in the background of a beautiful lake, she said she stands for Women, Infrastructure, Education, and Culture. The ‘West’ is tired of waiting and parachuting candidates. Candidates who are not local have no idea about basic issues, she said. Medical and education issues have been the talk of the area, she added.
A large number of locals assembled to support her and a raffle was held for funds. There was a question-answer session where the locals raised pressing issues and photos were taken.
In 2018, Point Cook was part of Altona, won by the ALP. It is carved out as a new electorate in the reshuffle.
