Premier Daniel Andrews:We need more Indian skilled migrants & students

MELBOURNE, 19 September 2022: Addressing Victoria’s Indian media, Premier Daniel Andrews today said, ” We need more Indian skilled migrants and students in Victoria.” The Premier along with Treasurer Tim Pallas and many upcoming Labor candidates for the November 2022 Victorian elections, was today interacting with the various Indian media outlets.

“We are pushing the Federal government for this, he added.

Describing the emergence of the Indian community in Victoria, as Australia’s largest, Mr. Andrews answering to a question by SAT said, ”  Migration from India has to go higher and will support Prime Minister Antony Albanese for this. ”

The Premier came down heavily on the previous Federal Government being hard on the international students during the pandemic. Treasurer Tim Pallas said Victoria will go overseas for international students and welcome them back to Australia. He disclosed India, China and Nepal were the countries from where most international students were coming or were to come.

With just 67 days left for the November 2022 Victorian elections, the Labor government is all set to engage with the strong Indian community.  The Premier praised the recently held Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM-2022) as a big success and agreed there should be more from multicultural communities in the Parliament and other walks of life. He also talked about the grants in millions given to multicultural community institutions.

He promised to be transparent and be connected to the Indian and other multicultural ethnic media. This was the first interaction with the Indian media after the pandemic:
