Sardar Patel’s 142nd birth anniversary celebrated at the Indian Consulate

MELBOURNE,31 October: India’s first Deputy PM and Home Minister and a leading figure in the freedom struggle Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s 142nd birth anniversary was celebrated at an event at the Indian Consulate here.

The event attended by community members was addressed by Consul General Manika Jain and Prof Vinod Mishra, who gave a short power point presentation about him. A short documentary on him was also shown.

Prof. Mishra detailed the important highlights of Sardar Patel’s life from his early days, participation in the freedom struggle, his vital role in uniting the 562 princely states into independent India and later as the first deputy PM and Home Minister.
