2073: Climate change, corporate fascism, surveillance tech, democracy recession

Directed by Asif Kapadia, 2073 and premiering at the Venice Film Festival 2024. It is a futuristic film. The synopsis says, ” The world is controlled by Libertarians, Dictators and Tech Bros. There is no dissent, no freedom. Everyone is monitored, people disappear and the net is closing on Ghost.”

“Through a genre-busting mix of archive and drama Ghost witnesses the terrifying threats facing us: a Democratic recession, the rise of neo-fascism, the Climate Disaster and the intrusion of surveillance technology. This is not science fiction. This is happening now.”

In it’s review Variety says, ” …chilling docudrama about the dystopia humanity is potentially hurtling towards and the very real and very contemporary factors concerning politics, the environment, corruption, race and technology that he says are propelling us in that direction.”

Release and streaming dates not known. It’s a mix of documentary footage plus science fiction.
