Sampath Raj mesmerises community at meet-greet evening

MELBOURNE, 19 June, 2024: Indian actor Sampath Raj  who works predominantly in Tamil and Telugu movies, in addition to Kannada and Malayalam films, speaks Hindi and is community friendly with his soft natured personality, unlike his many negative roles on the screen. In a meet-greet event at the Australia India Community Charitable Trust (AICCT) Hall, Rowville, Sampath Raj talked about he being in Melbourne, about his movies including ‘Goa’ and why he shifted from a successful 12 years career in advertising to being an actor. In a candid talk in front of the community and fans he described how he gets inspired by real-life characters.

Talking about the concept of watching movies, he said, one should watch a film as a film and not always connect to one’s own situation. He praised the Malayalam cinema for their quality content and confining to their geography, meaning not to expand out of their exclusive territory. This, he said, has made Malayalam cinema producing excellent movies. On a pointed question by South Asia Times (SAT) about disturbing and excessive violence in recently successful movies ‘Animal’ and ‘Monkey Man’, Sampath emphasised on one’s choice to see the type of movies one wants to see.

Sampath mixed with the community and posed for photographs. Families were happy meeting their favourite movie actor. Mr. Vasan Srinivasan took him around the Indian Museum at the AICCT first floor. The evening was impressive with a famous warm personality, despite the biting cold outside. A tasty South Indian dinner with Idlies, Sambar, Vege biryani, fruit chat and Jalebi wrapped up the happening. No doubt, a quality program.
