India name squad for next 2 Tests & ODIs against Australia

NEW DELHI, 19 February 2023: India have named their squads for the remainder of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the three-match ODI series against Australia.

 

India is leading the four-match Test series 2-0, having registered victories in the Nagpur and Delhi Tests.

Jaydev Undakat, who was released from the Test squad ahead of the Delhi encounter, which India won on Sunday, 19 February, has been added to both squads.

Unadkat went on to lead Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy final against Bengal at Kolkata. The side put up a comprehensive performance and won the final by nine wickets with Unadkat declared the Player of the Match for his 9/129 in the game.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will miss the first ODI, due to family commitments and in his absence all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the side.

Axar Patel and KL Rahul, who missed the New Zealand series due to family commitments, return back to the ODI side. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and batter Shreyas Iyer also make a comeback to the ODI team.

India squad for third and fourth Tests: Rohit Sharma (c), K L Rahul, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
